Conclusion:

We spent almost a whole month in Poland and in summary I can say that I never expected it to be so beautiful and above all so versatile! There are so many sweet old towns with their own history, the nature is beautiful and especially in the high Tatras there are really great hiking possibilities. Especially touching for us was the visit of the Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial, which should definitely not be missed on a trip through Poland. In my opinion, Germany's neighboring country is completely underestimated, because we had a very varied month. It was also especially pleasant for us that the train connections were so regular and reliable. And also just for quite a small amount of money compared to germany!
